About London X-ray Consulting Group

The London X-ray Consulting Group (LXCG) was born as the faculty teaching the annual Short Course in Modern X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry at Western University (Canada).  This course was established by Dr. Charlie Wu in 1990 under the direction of Professors James Willis and Andy Duncan from the University of Cape Town, South Africa.  In 2005, Willis and Duncan retired and the responsibility for the course was taken over by the members of London X-ray Consulting Group (LXCG) namely, Mike Hinds, Maggi Loubser, Alexander Seyfarth, and Charlie Wu.  XRF vendors have sponsored personnel to assist on some lectures on a rotating yearly basis.

Dr. Wu, who was the course coordinator, retired at the end of 2016.  His retirement and Western University's decision to remove the XRF analysis facility prompted a change of venue to Hamilton College, Clinton, NY in 2018.  The course continues to held at Hamilton College.

Our Mission

We are passionate about ensuring that our students learn how to effectively use X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometry to determine elements in material accurately and precisely. We strive to make our course and training: practical, fun and as hands-on as possible.
